Derrick Bridges & Co Proudly Sponsor the Big Fun Art Adventure

Derrick Bridges & Co are excited to announce their sponsorship of North London Hospice’s biggest summer event and North London’s first ever mass public art trail, The Big Fun Art Adventure.  30 uniquely designed owls - each standing at over 6ft tall - will be waiting to be discovered on a fun, free and easy-to-follow art trail for eight weeks from 17 August We are delighted that one of them, called Owl Splash, is ours!

Organised by North London Hospice in partnership with world-renowned creative producers Wild in Art, the trail will help to raise much needed funds for the hospice which cares for over 3,500 patients with a life-limiting illness every year and provides support for their families, friends and carers.

North London Hospice is the local hospice for Barnet, Enfield and Haringey and has been supporting the local community with free care since 1984.  Their mission is to help patients have the best of life at the end-of-life.

The owls will be hidden in plain sight alongside more than 25 smaller owlets, designed by local schools and community groups which will be hosted indoors. The sculptures will celebrate the vibrancy, culture, and creativity that North London has to offer and will see children opening their eyes wide with surprise as they start appearing all over Haringey.

The individually designed sculptures are aimed to inspire residents and tourists by discovering areas they have not explored before.

Each of the owls is sponsored by different businesses with a unique design from a different artist.  Our owl is designed by artist David Samuel from RareKind and can be found in Down Lane Park Tottenham Hale.  David Samuel is an artist and designer known for his abstract style of painting.  In 2003 David led the way in an emerging scene and opened the UK’s first graffiti art gallery “RareKind” where he held gallery shows for some of the county’s most recognised and respected graffiti artists.

RareKind went on to become the thriving creative agency it is now, based in North Acton (fast becoming one of London’s newest creative hot spots). The agency collaborates with a global network of highly skilled and accomplished artists across multiple disciplines, and also strongly believes in the power of art to improve people’s wellbeing.  According to David Samuel, “Art saves lives. It’s grounding, it’s inspiring, it’s human, it’s real. A world without art is a world without life.”

We are super proud to be involved. We are a law firm of solicitors and notaries centrally located in Chipping Barnet North London and established since 1945.  We are a business that has strong connections with its community and are a firm that appreciates the importance of creativity within our business and society as a whole.

When our client North London Hospice told us about this event we were sold immediately as it aims to connect businesses, artists and communities in such a creative and innovative way with the aim to raise over £300,000.00 for the Hospice.

After eight weeks on their perches, there will be the chance to say a final goodbye to all the owls at a special farewell event where all the owls come together before they are auctioned to raise money for North London Hospice. The owlets will be returned to their forever nests with their school or group.

The hospice hopes that the Big Fun Art Adventure will bring people together in a memorable way, whilst helping to make a difference to those who need of end-of-life care.
